eBay, has lost it’s venture into the social web as their brainchild StumbleUpon breaks away to form their own company. The company says it is very thankful for the support of eBay yet they do need to re-focus their efforts into more social goals that might allow them to bolster their position in the social net. StumbleUpon is continuing to grow as they focus towards becoming the leader in the varied world of referral services and keeping their ties with eBay may diffuse their energy from attaining such a cause. Social bookmarking and many other social internet’s developing technologies and trends are catching up with the software giant from Redmond and they have repeatedly made it known, unable to catch the next big one. They have already announced their schedule for the release of Bing, their own and proprietary search engine this coming October. Social networks abound nowadays, and has become a massive global cultural phenomenon that spans all corners of the world reached by the world wide web.

What makes LinkedIn stand out from the rest is its goal – for people to establish professional and working relationships using the physics and principles behind social networking. LinkedIn isn’t primarily a place where you make friends or find relationships – its a place where you advertise your services and skills to prospective employers (who can also give you reviews and feedback that will affect your future chances of getting hired through here). You can post your resume, curriculum vitae, samples of work, so employers can assess whether or not they feel that you’re right for a particular job. It’s like an eBay for people for work and for employers looking for people to hire.

Search Engine Optimization is the ability of certain keywords contained within an article, blog post or any other text within the internet that is used to direct people to certain web sites that for business use. Google is the king of SEO with their adwords and other systems that presents pages containing the most relevant search matches when a person does a search. Linking is also a way of implementing SEO within a computer system wherein the said keywords either link to related pages containing the selling phrase or directly towards the seller’s site which maximizes the potential of their products. Visibility is the key and SEO makes that happen by presenting the information pointing to your web site with the most relevant search results.

It’s a perfect situation for taking social computing tools, such as online social networks and group communications tools like wikis and keyword tagging, and putting them to work as a form of knowledge management.

The challenge for those dealing with knowledge management (KM) has always been how to get information out of people’s heads and into a database. Social computing tools are a good solution, since they encourage people to share their knowledge with others, and that expertise can easily be captured for future reference.

This is one way that knowledge actually helps people in need. Hopefully, this will spread to other government offices so that everyone can contribute.

You are able to offer your home made precious shots or simple artwork videos to a variety of audience. You can post them, comment on others’ works and tag them on the site. The Miro Internet TV platform is behind this wonderful piece of work. When you submit a video, it will appear in the ‘Incoming” page of the site. It is there that people will see your video, they will have the chance to view it, if they like it, they can put a star and then it will be added to their favorites list. If for a good reason your video is starred by a number of users, your video will be posted on the front page of the VideoBomb site. How cool can that be?

The Fast Icon has recently released a collection of 12 free ware icons called “Social Bookmark Icons”. The icon collection designed in resemblance with the Apple’s iPhone-like style, includes icons for Blinklist, BlogMarks, Delicious, Digg, Feeds, Flickr, Furl, Magnolia, Newsvine, Reddit, Stumbleupon and Technorati. All the available icons are sized from 16X16 to 512X512 pixels. A great and useful tool for blogs. Social Bookmark Icons is now ready for download as standard Mac or Windows icons and it also is a handy PNG file for Linux, Web and blogs.
