eBay, has lost it’s venture into the social web as their brainchild StumbleUpon breaks away to form their own company. The company says it is very thankful for the support of eBay yet they do need to re-focus their efforts into more social goals that might allow them to bolster their position in the social net. StumbleUpon is continuing to grow as they focus towards becoming the leader in the varied world of referral services and keeping their ties with eBay may diffuse their energy from attaining such a cause. They have already announced their schedule for the release of Bing, their own and proprietary search engine this coming October.
